What is a Repeater Crawl?

A Repeater Crawl is a coverage testing event where amateur radio operators check in to multiple repeaters from their location. This helps us understand:

  • Which repeaters provide coverage to different areas of Macomb County
  • Signal quality from various locations to each repeater
  • Potential coverage gaps that may need to be addressed
  • Backup communication options for emergency operations

During a crawl, each station checks in to each repeater in sequence and reports their signal quality using the RS (Readability-Signal) system. The data collected helps improve our emergency communication capabilities.
